Emily Ley For the Win

You had to know that a blog post was coming up soon about Emily Ley’s Simplified Planner! She sold out of most of them on her website on the first day she launched them, May 6. However, you are in luck, because we still have some left in our store!
This round of planners come in 2 different styles – 17 Month Weekly (Aug 2015 – December 2016) & Academic Daily (Aug 2015 – July 2016). And each one comes in 3 different adorable patterns – Happy Stripe, Mint Dot & Gold Pineapple! For those of you who were a little bit confused about the difference in the planners, the weekly version shows the whole week on each spread. The daily version has each day on a completely separate page. Our advice when deciding which one is best for you is to consider how you spend most of your day. If you work from 9-5, then you probably don’t need a daily planner because most of your day is filled up with the same thing. It might be better for you to get the weekly version to be able to see your whole week when making dinner plans, bible studies, etc. However, if you are student, self employed, etc. the daily would probably be best for you! This version is great if each day of your week looks different. It’s great for keeping track of class schedules, club meetings, etc. My sister and I both chose the 17 Month Weekly in Gold Pineapple. What are you going to choose?
One of our favorite features that is seen in both versions is the little spot for dinner! Whether you are cooking just for yourself or for a while family, that tiny little spot is so helpful. Being able to write down what our dinner plans are for each night helps me so much when I’m grocery shopping!
Emily Ley also always includes some amazing accessories with the release of her planners! We have her stretchy bands and magnetic page markers also.
And let’s not forget her amazing Baby Book! These are also sold out on her website, but we have a few still left in our store! These make amazing shower gifts. The only come in the Mint, so they are gender neutral!

Our favorite thing about our mom is probably that she is an AMAZING cook. We grew up so spoiled by such good food. Most of you don’t know this, but we actually thought about opening Thanks A Latte as a small restaurant in the beginning because of our love for experimenting with great tasting food! If your mom is anything like ours, then we have some great suggestions for Mother’s Day!
These recipe boxes from Rifle Paper Co are perfect for any mom who loves to cook, and especially moms who make up their own recipes! It comes with adorable recipe cards inside too. We thought this week would be the perfect time to tell you what WE think are the perfect Mother’s Day gifts! Sometimes moms can be the hardest to buy for. They do so much for us and it seems so hard to get a gift that shows them just how much we appreciate all they do!
Moms seem to always be on the go, so what better way to show your appreciation than to set her up with all she needs for an amazingly relaxing bubble bath! Barr Co makes some amazing bath bubbles and bath salts (which have healing properties too!). Their original scent is relaxing and clean, and will be sure to keep her relaxed as she soaks. Barr Co lotion is amazing too and can even be used on extremely dry skin (even eczema!). It’s the perfect finish to the perfect bath.

One thing we know about moms is that they love a good wallet! Tell Your Story!

One of our all time favorite lines to carry is Waxing Poetic! Their jewelry is great quality – made of sterling silver and brass with gold plating. Most of their charms are mixed metals, so it’s easy to mix and match with whatever you’re wearing! Their mission is to help people “tell their story.” They have tons of awesome charms and beautiful bracelets and chains so you can wear something that represents what means the most to you! We all personally have their jewelry and love it! They make such great, sentimental gifts.
My mom wears 2 of the Waxing Poetic bangles every day in her regular stack of bracelets. She has all of her children’s initials, her last initial, a charm that says “grateful,” a heart, and a cross. On a separate bangle, she has an “E” for her new grandbaby, Eliza, and a rocking horse. These charms remind her of all she has to be grateful for! Her amazing family and her relationship with Jesus Christ.
Rachel has recently added a Waxing Poetic bangle to her arm party too! She has an “H” to represent her new last name, a charm that says “adored” from her new, sweet husband and a cross to represent her faith in Jesus.
Not pictured, is my bracelet! I have an “E” charm to represent my new baby girl, Eliza, a charm that says “cherished” from my husband, a cross to represent my faith in Jesus, and an elephant to remind me of the time I spent working with victims of sex-trafficking in Thailand.
It’s awesome to be able to have such beautiful reminders of where God has taken us and how He has blessed us! These bracelets make great gifts, and are so easy to add on to! They are PERFECT for Mother’s Day gifts. And the best part is that you can keep adding to them at the next holiday!

We hope you all had an amazing Easter! I know we did! We had such a sweet time celebrating Christ’s resurrection and the new life we have in Him with out of town family and friends. And also getting share our new little life (Eliza) with family who hadn’t met her yet!
We also love showing our out of town family and friends all of our favorite locally made gems! One of our favorite items that we recently started carrying are Ella B candles! These soy candles smell AMAZING and are made in NC! They can be the perfect going away present or graduation present – perfect way to take a little bit of home away with you!
Another one of our new favorites is Mary Phillips Designs! She is so sassy and cute, and so are all her products! They make great, hilarious gifts for close friends, hostesses or just a cute pick me up!
We also love our local jewelry lines, Bijoux Southern and the Tailored Pearl! The Bijoux Southern bracelets are great for stacking and the Tailored Pearl’s earrings are the perfect accent to any outfit.
Another amazing local artist that we love, is Maghon Walker with All She Wrote Notes! She had prints calligraphy and even teaches classes at our shop sometimes. Stay tuned for our next class sometime in June!
And last but not least, we LOVE the Living Joy Journal! This awesome journal has separate sections for your quiet time, bible study, prayers, church notes, journaling and more! Such a great way to keep your relationship with God organized!

Calligraphy Ya’ll!

Last Thursday, we hosted our second calligraphy class with All She Wrote’s Maghon Walker! Maghon loves writing and receiving handwritten notes of love which is what inspires her to teach others how to do the same – but in a more cute, fun way! We have had a blast getting to know her over the past few months as we have hosted her classes and started carrying her art in our store. She is getting married in May (yay!), but we will be having another class sometime in June or July, so stay tuned!
We’re Back!

It’s been forever since we have posted, but we’re back! As many of you who come into the store often know, our lives have been just a little crazy lately! So we figured we would update all of you on what’s been going on and about some new and exciting things we have planned!
Rachel and James got married on December 31 – AND IT WAS SO FUN. Can you imagine a more fun night? It was the best New Year’s Eve celebration any of us have ever been a part of. Rachel is now working part-time with Carter Elite photography and part-time at Thanks A Latte. Her husband James is a civil engineer, and they live in an adorable house in Holly Springs! Here are a few pictures from their big night!
And then, just two short weeks later, I had my sweet baby girl, Eliza Rain! She was 8lbs and 13oz. YEP. She was huge. Everything went great though! I could not have done it without my amazing husband, my mom and my sister cheering me on throughout the whole process. We are all absolutely in love with her. I am loving being a mom, but I’m still helping out at Thanks A Latte when I can! I also recently started selling Stella & Dot in order to be able to stay at home more with my sweet baby girl! Whew! It’s been a crazy few months to say the least! But we are all so happy and excited to be able to share our growing family with all of you. Happy Father’s Day!

Father’s Day is right around the corner! All my last minute shoppers, I KNOW you still need to find something thoughtful and practical for your dads. Since our Dad ISN’T here all the time like our mom, we can actually surprise him with some sweet goodies!
Here’s just a few of the amazing gifts we have for dads this year! Our “Father Knows Best” mug with the mustache is probably my favorite. Who doesn’t love a good mustache? And we are loving our tie themed picture frames and toiletry bags! Such unique gifts, for hard to buy for men. You can even put a thoughtful picture in the frame when you give it to him or fill the bag with his favorite things!
One of the coolest things we have for dads this year is this leather bluetooth speaker! It looks small, but it is loud enough to fill up our whole store!! You can plug any phone into it using the headphone jack, or set it up to play through bluetooth. Our dad loves music, and LOVES this amazing speaker! And our Musco Real cologne is a perfect add-on to whatever awesome thing you have planned for Dad 🙂 Come see us this week for great gifts and even cards! Pray for Kelly

Pictured above is my personal prayer journal that I love and use everyday. The first category of each month is “The World” where you can pick a specific country to pray for. For the past two months, God has laid Ecuador on my heart. Kelly recently went on staff with Hands of Compassion, a non-profit organization meeting a variety of needs in Ecuador. Kelly is so excited to pursue her passion for fighting sex trafficking in a country that has never been served in this area before. This week, Kelly and the president of HOC are in Ecuador, meeting with influential individuals to lay the foundation for some big changes! I absolutely cannot wait to hear how everything goes and all of the exciting things coming for Hands of Compassion! Join me in praying for my amazing sister and the work the Lord has so perfectly laid out before her!
Also, I cannot wait for my sister to come back home! It’s only been a day and I miss her like crazy!
